Breast & breast-cancer surgery
Assessment and surgical treatment of breast lumps and breast cancer — an area of special interest for Dr. Sabir, delivered with clarity and compassion.
Breast disease ranges from benign lumps and infections to breast cancer. Prompt, accurate assessment matters: the 'triple assessment' of clinical examination, imaging (ultrasound or mammography) and, where needed, a needle biopsy allows an early and confident diagnosis. Breast cancer treated early has an excellent outlook, and surgery is central to that care.
Breast surgery is a particular interest of Dr. Sabir's, reflected in his FCPS dissertation and several peer-reviewed studies on breast disease. He offers surgery for benign lumps as well as breast-conserving and mastectomy operations for cancer, working within a team approach that considers each patient's diagnosis, wishes and overall wellbeing.

Breast Surgery — your questions answered
I've found a breast lump — what should I do?+
Most breast lumps are not cancer, but every new lump should be checked promptly. Dr. Sabir uses triple assessment (examination, imaging and, if needed, a biopsy) to reach an accurate diagnosis quickly.
Will I need a mastectomy or can the breast be conserved?+
This depends on the size, type and location of the cancer and your preferences. Many patients are suitable for breast-conserving surgery; Dr. Sabir discusses the options that apply to your specific diagnosis.
How quickly can breast cancer be diagnosed?+
Triple assessment often allows a diagnosis within a short series of visits. Early diagnosis improves outcomes, so timely assessment is important.
Is breast surgery painful?+
Discomfort is well managed with medication, and many breast operations involve a relatively short hospital stay. You will receive clear after-care and pain-relief guidance.
Do you treat benign (non-cancer) breast problems too?+
Yes. Dr. Sabir manages benign lumps, cysts, infections, breast pain and nipple discharge, as well as breast cancer.
